KARACHI: Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) president Sheikh Umer Rehan has said announcement of reduction of electricity rates in the zero-rated export sectors would have a positive impact on exports which would increase the rate of exports and reduce competitiveness.Sheikh Umer Rehan said the business community has always been urging the government to promote business activities, adding that relief in electricity, gas and degradation charges urgently needed to be provided to the export sector.
KATI president added that the government could easily achieve economic growth and export targets through measures such as setting up new industries, increasing investment and reducing production costs to boost business activities. Sheikh Umer Rehan said that we thank Prime Minister Imran Khan and Trade Adviser Razzaq Dawood for acknowledging the demand of traders and industrialists for considering rates of electricity for five zero rated export industries for July and August at 7.5 cents and later on increasing this rate to 9 cents per unit.
