LETTER: How troublesome is the fact that the Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that a further seven players and a player support personnel from a total of 35 have tested positive for Covid-19. The PCB, according to media reports, had organised these 35 tests in Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar on Monday. Earlier, three cricketers of England bound squad also tested positive for this virus.

According to World Players Association, players take a calculated risk to resume their sporting careers. But they are always vulnerable to Covid-19 because social distancing rules cannot be adhered to in most sports. However, the situation underscores the need for strict observance of SOPs related to Covid-19. The number of Covid-19 cases is surging unabatedly. As of yesterday, it rose to 190,839 with total deaths so far at 3,806. It increasingly appears that people, national cricketers, are still not taking the deadly virus' spread seriously.
