Russian Trade Representative Yuri M. Kozlov in response to a welcome reception given in his honour by the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that they have improved the trade relationship with Pakistan and are continuously working towards its improvement. Kozlov further said that an atmosphere of confidence prevails in both the countries for bilateral investment.
He said the business communities of both the countries should avail the existing opportunities of investment in agriculture and information technology sectors. The President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry in his welcome address said that we are extremely happy for your meeting with the members of Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce to boost up the export and import operations between Pakistan and Russia being beneficial to both the countries.
He hoped that his visit to Hyderabad will be a source of inspiration amongst the business and industrial community of Hyderabad as it will go long way in building up strong bilateral trade relationship between our two nations. However, the business forums of both the countries may further accelerate and enhance their efforts in increasing the bilateral trade relationship on sound and stable footings for ever.
Gohar Ullah said that Russia is importing Textile goods, Fruits and Vegetables, etc, while Pakistan is importing Paper, Steel and Fertiliser from Russia. Presently the trade volume between the two countries is to the tune of 500 million US dollars. He further said that Hyderabad has a large number of agro-based industries including textile industries, garments manufacturing units and automobile of 2-3 wheelers manufacturing and assembling plants. He further said that Hyderabad is a city of attraction for foreign investments. Moreover, there is a vital scope of investments in power sector, coal mining and other industries in Hyderabad being most peaceful and second largest city of the province of Sindh; it is located at a close distance from Karachi.
Turab Ali Khoja Senior Vice-President HCCI welcoming the honourable guests from Russia expressed that the Russian investors have the opportunities to invest in coal mining as Sindh Thar coal reserves are 5th largest in the world. The Chief Guest was accompanied with Sergey Plyushchov, Head of Trade Commission Russia, Karachi Branch and Ruslan Aliev, Chief Expert Russian Trade Mission, Karachi Branch. The event was also attended by Vice-President Abdul Saleem Arain, Former Presidents Haji Muhammad Yaqoob, Yousuf Suleman, Mehmood Ahmed, Former Vice-President Ziauddin, Chairman Diplomatic Affairs Sub-Committee Saleem A.
