Hafeez Sheikh's status: Gilani advises Zardari to de-notify

The Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday advised the President Asif Zardari to de-notify Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh Advisor to prime minister with the rank and status of Finance Minister, as passage and signing of 20th Constructional Amendment has restored him from February 28, 2012.
The prime minister said that the approval of 20th Constitutional Amendment has validated the election process of the Senate and National Assembly members held after April, 19, 2011. On February 6, the Supreme Court has suspended the membership of 28 parliamentarians, who were elected through by-polls held after the 18th Amendment, but before the completion of the Election Commission. Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh after the court decision was appointed by the Prime Minister as his Advisor on Finance and Dr Asim Hussain as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources with immediate effect.
On Friday, Gilani advised the President to discontinue the appointment of Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh as Advisor to the Prime Minister in terms of Article 93 of the Constitution read with Serial No 10 of Schedule V-B to the Rules of Business, 1973. He said that the passage of the 20th Constitutional Amendment Act validated the election process of the members of Senate/National Assembly, which were elected after 19th April, 2010 and they are to be restored to their actual positions.
In the same process the Prime Minister said that Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has been restored as Minister of Finance, Revenue, Planning and Development, Economic Affairs and Statistics on February, 28 2012, the date on which the 20th Amendment came into force.
The Prime Minister also approved de-notification of the appointment of Dr Asim Hussain as Special Assistant to the Prime Minister with the status of Federal Minister for Petroleum, in terms of rule 4(6) read with Serial no 1A of Schedule V-A of the Rules of Business, 1973 as he has also been restored as Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources from the date the Constitutional amendment came into effect.
