Secret talks on Afghan issue

Representatives of Pakistan, Afghanistan and the US, besides the militant groups fighting US forces in Afghanistan, including Taliban, Hizb-e-Islami and Haqqani group, met secretly in Qatar, Aaj News reported on Tuesday. Quoting unnamed diplomatic sources, the channel said the participants agreed to keep the meeting that took place in Qatar's capital, Doha a secret.
They also agreed to make the details public only after they achieved a breakthrough in their talks. The channel said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani also met the participants of secret talks. During the meeting, the parties deliberated over formation of a stable government in Afghanistan. It said the US reportedly showed some flexibility regarding a proposal that sought to set up a broad-based Taliban chief Mullah Omar-led national government in Afghanistan.
