Some essential commodities showed changes in prices while the most items had nominal fluctuation in line with global trends during the week ended on February 4, 2012.
On Monday grams prices wore higher while other commodities fluctuated modestly - gram from Australia No I rose by Rs 300 to Rs 5200 and Rs 5400, gram Australia dal gained Rs 200 to Rs 5900 and Rs 6100, grams 50x50 rose by Rs 100 to Rs 5700 and Rs 5900, yellow peas Canada gained Rs 50 to Rs 3850 and Rs 4052, yellow peas dal Canada scaled higher by Rs 100 to Rs 4350 and Rs 4550, bajra low quality lost Rs 50 to Rs 2350, while the other variety was put at Rs 3200, wheat old bardan was quoted at Rs 2660, and new bardan registered at Rs 2675, guwar Sindh and Punjab low type did fluctuate and was quoted at Rs 10,500, while higher kind dropped Rs 100 to Rs 10,600, gur lost Rs 200 to Rs 3800 and Rs 4800 and Khandsari registered at Rs 5500 and Rs 6000, Irri-6 Sindh low type was put at Rs 3000 while fine type rose by Rs 20-to Rs 3100.
On Jodia Bazar black pepper from Singapore conceded Rs 700 to Rs 22,500, black pepper from Brazil lost Rs 1000 to Rs 24,000, muting move downward by Rs 4000 to Rs 40,000, cinnamon leaves shed Rs 400 to Rs 6100, big cardamom ended lower by Rs 1000 to Rs 61,000, clove rose by Rs 4000 to Rs 52000, Kalonji lost Rs 300 to Rs 7400, dry ginger from China quoted at Rs 13,500, Star aniseed conceded Rs 500 to Rs 16,500, cumminseed up Rs 2500 to Rs 14500, turmeric Pak quoted at Rs 4500.
On Tuesday seed prices fluctuated modestly on grain markets. Rapeseed from Nawabshah conceded Rs 50 to Rs 2450 and Rs 2475, rapeseed Mirpur shed Rs 150 to Rs 2400 and Rs 2425. The rapeseed cakes low type surged by Rs 60 to Rs 70, while better type lost Rs 35 to Rs 785, cotton seed cakes with bag in Sindh low type gained Rs 50 to Rs 650 while better type lost same amount to Rs 700.
On Wednesday rapeseed cake low type registered at Rs 780 and better type was selling at Rs 785, til conceded Rs 50 to Rs 2300, while the other type stayed put at Rs 3600, cotton seeds oilcake with bag Sindh low type was down Rs 50 to Rs 600, while better type was put at Rs 750, masoor Canada gave in Rs 1200 to Rs 5000, and gur rose by Rs 300 to Rs 3800 and Rs 4800, Irri-6 Sindh low type was up by Rs 25 to Rs 3025 while superior type was put at Rs 3100.
On Thursday minor changes were marked on the wholesale commodity markets, fresh boost in petroleum products prices has taken away some shine from the wholesale markets, changes were in masoor Canada rose substantially by Rs 1200 to Rs 6200. Gur gave away Rs 300 to Rs 3500 and Rs 4500 in respect of both types, cottonseed oilcakes with bag in Sindh low type suffered a loss of Rs 50 to Rs 550 while better quality was down by Rs 100 to Rs 650. On Friday there was no change in rates since most of the traders, as usual, were busy in preparations for Juma prayers. On Saturday markets remained close in connection with Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi celebrations.
