Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday said that Pakistan People's Party (PPP) never compromised on principles and faced every trial bravely. Addressing the stone-laying ceremony of Kalla Shah Kaku Toll Plaza at Shahdara, he said, "dictators come and go but the vision and philosophy of Zulifqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto is alive."
Gilani said that PPP had always rendered sacrifices for the cause of democracy and upholding of constitution and had worked for strengthening of national institutions. He said that PPP was promoting the policy of reconciliation as per the vision of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and restored 1973 constitution in its original form. He said that PPP never came to power through backdoors rather with the backing of masses.
The prime minister said that the people were the real source of power. He said that PPP was the party of masses and derived its strength from them. Enumerating the achievements of his government Gilani said that they had restored 1973's constitution, approved National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, passed 18th amendment from the parliament, carried out reforms in FATA and gave voice to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. Besides PPP workers, a large number of people from all walks of life were present on the occasion.
