Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 70,751 tonnes of cargo comprising 23,234 tonnes of import cargo and 47,517 tonnes of export cargo including 3,289 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 23,234 tonnes comprised of 15,159 tonnes of containerised cargo; 75 tonnes of general cargo and 8,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 47,517 tonnes comprised of 38,015 tonnes of containerised cargo; 220 tonnes of general cargo; 5,982 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,034 tonnes of cement; 3,948 tonnes of rice and 3,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Five ships namely STX Patraikos, President Jackson, Pardis, Chemroad Journey and MT Quetta with three container ships, one ethanol ship and one crude oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Seven vessels viz Wan Hai-605, Tessa, APL Brisbane, Emirates Kanako, Emirates Star, Berthea and Western Cruiser with four container ships, two oil tankers and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths.
Three ships namely Wan Hai-605, Tessa and Chem World with two container ships and one ethanol ship sailed out to sea on Thursday, while four ships namely Emirates Kanako, Emirates Star, Berthea and BBC Asia with one container ship, two oil tankers and one general cargo ship are expected to sail on Friday.
Three vessels viz Golden Denise, YM Fuzhou and Le Cong with one ethanol ship, one container ship and one general cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while six vessels viz Kota Azam, YM Ningbo, APL Sydney, Lara Rickmers, Kei and New Glory with four container ships, one chemicals carrier and one rock phosphate carrier are respectively due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIMA cargo volume of 30,915 tonnes, comprising 15,703 tonnes of import cargo and 15,212 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 1,190 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 15,703 tonnes includes 4,951 tonnes of edible oil and 10,752 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 15,212 tonnes includes 974 tonnes of rice and 14,238 tonnes of containerised cargo. Two container ships namely CV Izumo and CV CGM Strauss sailed out to sea on Thursday morning.
A total number of four CV Izumo, CV CGM Strauss, MV Al-Barella and MV Chemroad Haya are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice and edible oil respectively during last 24 hours. As many as five ships namely Nele Maersk, Safmarine Nagami, Chemroad Fuji, Coronado and MT Karachi with containers, edible oil, canola seeds and furnace oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. A total number of two vessels viz CV Nele Maersk and CV Safmarine Nagami carrying containers are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Thursday.
