Visiting Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said here that both "India and Pakistan are dealing with intense issue of corruption, but, to remove it, first Prime Minister and his Cabinet must be accountable," India Blooms news service reported.
"In Pakistan, Supreme Court has great will to fight corruption, but the government is not active," he said on Monday, addressing a gathering at Kolkata Literary Meet here on the ongoing Kolkata Book Fair campus. "If your Prime Minister and his Cabinet Ministers are accountable then there is very less chances of corruption. If ministers are clear and competent then it is impossible to commit corruption."
On role that the government should take up in cleaning virus of corruption, Imran said: "If the government has no will to fight corruption, then putting any legislation cannot solve it." He asked for a clean cabinet for more expenditure on development of 'human resource' in the nation.
"A vibrant media is necessary to fight corruption that could be able to expose wrongdoings fearlessly." The PTI chief blamed both President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani for crisis-like situation in his country. He said his party would not support a military coup, and the country can only come out of the current crisis through a fresh election.
