Mosamyat Road Improvement Project: 70 percent work of first phase completed
On the directives of Administrator, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Mohammad Hussain Syed, Works Department of KMC has completed 70 percent of the first phase of construction work on Mosamyat Road Improvement Project being undertaken to connect Gulshan-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar and other adjoining areas to Super Highway.
It is expected that the rest of the work of the first phase would be completed within next two months. In the first phase, road is being constructed from University Road to PCSIR or Met Office while in the second phase road will be constructed up to super highway. Three-kilometer road is being constructed in first phase while the remaining will be started after the completion of current phase and release of funds. PC 1 has also been approved. The cost of first phase has been estimated to be Rs 167 million.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Director General Technical Services, KMC to review the project. Chairing a meeting DG asked the concerned engineers to expedite the work on the project on priority basis in view of its importance. He said Mosamyat road improvement project is an important project of the KMC as it will connect different areas including Gulistan-e-Jauher, Gulshani-e-Iqbal and other areas to the Super Highway.
He said the administrator has directed to complete the work within the time as planned. He said people were facing great difficulties due to dilapidated condition of the road. The condition will be improved and difficulties were being faced by the people would now be taken away after the completion of the project. He asked the Chief Engineer Mehmood Baloch to expedite work and make all out efforts to complete the project within two months time.-PR
