Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Saturday ruled out any talk on the government's expected move to reopen Nato supplies. "If the government enjoy a two-thirds majority, it should not require the opposition's help for the passage of any constitutional amendment," said Leader of opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, in a statement.
Nisar ruled out the possibility of any talks aimed at resuming Nato supplies and mustering opposition support for the passage of the 20th constitutional amendment with the government. According to the statement, the PML-N leader said the country does not require any 20th constitutional amendment rather it needs an independent election commission and error-free electoral rolls for free, fair and transparent general polls.
He also accused the government of employing 'double standards' in its approach towards gaining political mileage. He asked the government not to put burden on the parliament for the fulfilment of its political agenda. On the restoration of Nato supply, he said that any decision for adopting any strategy in the joint session of the parliament would be taken by the party's leadership.
The leader of opposition was also critical of the government. Meanwhile, talking to Business Recorder, PML-N secretary information Senator Mushahidullah Khan criticised Prime Minister's statement on general elections. Prime Minister Gilani in an interview to foreign media in Davos ruled out an early general election, saying it would be held on time after completion of five-year term.
