The Karachi Port handled 84,284 tonnes of cargo comprising 38,622 tonnes of import cargo and 45,662 tonnes of export cargo including 2,897 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 38,622 tonnes comprised of 21,390 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,228 tonnes of general cargo and 6,004 tonnes of DAP.
The total export cargo of 45,662 tonnes comprised of 22,006 tonnes of containerised cargo; 131 tonnes of general cargo; 123 tonnes of cement and 23,402 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Five ships namely Hyundai Bangkok, Hansa Constitution, YM Asia, Stolt Viking and Paimpol with three container ships, one oil tanker and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Three vessels viz Wan Hai-603, Chungo Tres and Sioux Maiden carrying one container ship, one bulk cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Three ships namely Hanjin Durban, Wan Hai-603 and Sioux Maiden with two container ships and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Formosa Product Alpine with naphtha tanker is expected to sail on Thursday.
Three vessels viz APL Cyprine, Olivia and Pardis carrying three container ships respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while four vessels viz Maetiga, Chem Norma, Pacific Emerald and Admire Coral with one mogas carrier, one chemicals carrier, one coal carrier and one general cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 36,156 tonnes includes 14,555 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,124 tonnes of canola seeds and 15,477 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 15,457 tonnes includes 763 tonnes of rice; 1,023 tonnes of cement and 13,671 tonnes of containerised cargo.
Two ships namely CV Al-Motanabbi and CV Sealand Michigan sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely MV Ataman is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of six vessels CV Sealand Michigan, CV Al-Motanabbi, MV Leopard-B, MV LA Paloma, MV Ataman and Al-Soor-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, canola seeds and diesel oil respectively during last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CGM Rossini, Sflavon, CV Henry, Fair Spirit, MT Karachi, Chemroad Haya, Leader, Norgas Alamdeh and MTM Shanghi with three container ships, two furnace oil tanker, one edible oil tanker, one diesel oil tanker, one ethelene ship and one chemicals carrier respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim.
A total number of four vessels viz CV CGM Rossini, CV Sflavon, CV Henry and MT Norgas Alamdeh carrying three container ships and one ethelene ship are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
