Delay in development work: Commissioner warns contractors of legal action
Commissioner Hyderabad Division Ahmed Baksh Narejo expressing displeasure over the slow pace of development schemes has warned the contractors of legal action if they do not abide by the contract. The commissioner issued the warning at a meeting held to review the development projects under Hyderabad Package. Narejo said that Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has issued directives for quick completion of the development projects.
"All the ongoing projects under fiscal 2011-12 should be completed by June 30, 2012 positively," he ordered. He said there was no shortage of funds for the projects, however, the pace of the work was not in sync with the availability of the funds. Sindh Fisheries Minister Zahid Bhurgari also expressed dismay over delay in completion of the development schemes.
He warned the contractors that he would request the provincial government and the district administration for strong punitive action as well as cancellation of their licenses if they failed to complete the projects in time without compromising over the quality.
