Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich has said that the PPP has neither invited nor stopped Mansoor Ijaz from visiting Pakistan. He said Mansoor is a common US citizen who would be dealt with in accordance to country's law.
According to him, Mansoor has allegedly written memo and Nawaz Sharif has made him respondent in his petition. Therefore, due legal course would take place against him when he arrives in Pakistan, he added.
While defending the interior minister Rehman Malik, Warraich said Rehman had said that the court should write the government in case it was interested in giving protection to any party to the memo case. Otherwise, he said, an independent judicial commission was probing the case and the PPP would cooperate with it in accordance with the spirit of law and constitution. He said the prime minister has already said that Mansoor was not a Viceroy but a simple US citizen, facing allegations of conspiracy as per the writ petition from Nawaz Sharif.
