Nisar calls for Supreme Court to probe into ISI's role

Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Tuesday called for Supreme Court's probe into the current political role being played by the Inter Service Intelligence's (ISI) along with that played during Musharraf's era.
In a statement issued to media by his chamber, Nisar said if the apex court could reopen a 23-year-old case then why it could not investigate the role played by ISI during Musharraf regime and its present role. "It seems that eyes and ears are closed towards the ISI's "tamasha", he said, adding if the matter was not looked into by the court then what to talk about justice.
He deplored that whatever drama the ISI has been staging in 2012 is being overlooked. Nisar, however, expressed the hope that as the apex court has reopened a 23-year old case of ISI on a political demand, it would also investigate the present role being played by the secret agency.
The opposition leader also blasted PTI chief Imran Khan, saying that he had no role in restoration of the judiciary and also asked him not to pretend that judiciary was 'in his pocket'. He recalled that when the movement for restoration of judiciary was at its peak, Imran Khan used to visit foreign countries and disappeared when the Long March was about to held.
Reacting to the press conference addressed jointly by ex-servicemen from a platform of "First Pakistan Group", he said that instead of teaching the lesson of democracy to the people, the remains of the former dictator Musharraf should tender an apology to the nation for their past. He said that it was irony of the fate that those who used to support Musharraf, were now talking about democracy.
"This group should be named as 'Musharraf First' instead of calling itself 'Pakistan First'", he added. He further regretted that in the meeting of the group, there were few personnel of armed forces who have the good reputation and advised them to keep themselves away from such group of people, which earned a bad name to the army.
Nisar also accused these armed personnel of using the army institution for their vested interests and to grab the power. "The institution has to bear the misdeeds of these people", he added. He was of the view that enemies of the country could not have done damage to the army as the group has done. He also demanded of the court that besides Pervez Musharraf, the group should also be taken to task for its 'misdeeds'.
