Deputy Secretary General, Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, has welcomed the Senate resolution demanding former President Pervez Musharraf's trial for treason. He said that Pervez Musharraf had abrogated the constitution twice, ambushed the Supreme Court and made this country an orchard for the US to carry on bloodshed of the innocent Pakistanis. Musharraf's policies had caused irreparable loss to Pakistan's sovereignty and solidarity.
Musharraf's crimes also included the handing over Pakistan's respected daughter Dr Aafia Siddiqui to the US, the killings at the Lal Masjid and Jamea Hafsa, Islamabad, the bloodshed in Karachi on the 12th of May, 12th of Rabiul Awal and the murders of Akbar Bugti. He appealed to the Supreme Court to order Musharraf's repatriation through the Interpol and his prompt trial.
