The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has handed over another 50 houses to the flood affectees of Basti Pir Baksh (District Layyah) that has now become a Model Village. According to the LCCI spokesman, the Model Village, completed in a period of five months with a cost of Rs 60 million, now has a school for boys, an industrial home for women, a dispensary, a veterinary clinic, a mosque, a play ground and market area.
A keys handing over ceremony was held that was jointly presided over by Senior Advisor Punjab government Sardar Zulfiqar Khan Khosa and former LCCI Senior Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad while Mian Zahid Javaid was also part of LCCI delegation, while DCO Layyah Mushtaq Ahmad Anjum was also present on the occasion.
The LCCI former Senior Vice President Sheikh Mohammad Arshad said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry was thankful to the Punjab government, particularly the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) for providing all the logistics and required infrastructure for the early completion of this mega project.
He said that it is one of the best example of Public-Private Partnership as PDMA, headed by Kahlid Sher Dil, and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry had been working hand-in-hand for the last six months for the constructions in those flood affected areas where devastation was more than 90 per cent.
Sheikh Mohammad Arshad said that the Lahore Chamber is also thankful to the DCO Layyah Mushtaq Ahmad Anjum and the District administration for their co-operation during all construction phases and said that LCCI would continue to fulfil its corporate-social responsibility in future as well.
Earlier, in his address, the Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa said that Punjab government believes in service to masses and it would reach every corner of the province to ensure all facilities to the masses. He said that the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif was working day in and day out to make the province a land of opportunities and tranquillity and the days are not very far when the people would taste the fruit of his hard work.
The designing and town planning of this Model Village was done by the government, while construction work was completed by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Lahore Chamber had already contributed Rs 15 million to the cause as it had donated Rs 10 million in Prime Flood Relief Fund and another rupees five million in Chief Minister Punjab fund for rehabilitation of flood affectees.
