Pakistan has conveyed to United States that a dialogue process between the two countries will resume after the finalisation of terms of engagements by Pakistan's parliament. Talking to media persons here Saturday, Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs Salman Bashir said that Islamabad had informed the US State Department that the dialogue would be resumed after country's parliament gave a final shape to terms of engagements.
According to him, the parliamentary committee on national security has finalised its recommendations on country's future engagements with the US and Nato. These recommendations would now be sent to the parliament for final approval, he added. He said the resumed dialogue between the two countries would be beneficial because it would be held in the light of the parliamentary proposals.
He said that Pak-US relations were highly important and the two countries understood the significance of bilateral ties. However, he said it was important that there should be some agreed terms so that there should be no ambiguity. To a question, Bashir said he read statement of US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan regarding the dialogue process in the media, saying, "we also agree with the statement".
To a query regarding existence of Norwegian spy network in the country, he refused to comment further saying that Pakistan enjoyed good ties with Norway. The secretary Foreign Office also declined to comment on a question about Mansoor Ijaz, saying he had been getting updates through media.
