DSP and SHO suspended

Published Updated

The Sindh Home Department on Wednesday ordered to suspend a DSP and SHO of Boat Basin, as they were allegedly involved in taking a Deputy Shift Station Manager (DSSM) of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) into custody over his refusal to reschedule fight timing for Mustaq Shah, IGP, Sindh.
According to police sources, the suspension orders of DSP Nayyarul Haq and SHO Naseer Tanoli were issued on the complaint of the PIA's deputy shift station manager Arshad Ali Rind, who was released when his family approached Manzoor Wassan, provincial home minister.
They said that Rind was asked to delay PK-509 flight leaving for Sukkur for IGP Sindh Mushtaq Shah on Saturday morning but he refused to do so and the IG Sindh missed the flight. As a consequence, Arshad was illegally detained at Boat Basin police station where he was threatened for dire consequences.
Sources said the suspended DSP Haq and SHO Tanoli were directed by IGP Sindh Mustaq Shah to take Rind into custody. Reacting on the directives, they conducted raid at his residence located at Oyster View Residence, Block-2, Clifton near Bilawal House at around 1:30am on early Wednesday.
According to Rind's statement, some 25 police personnel in civil dress barged into the house on early Wednesday and ransacked all house accessories besides misbehaving with his four children and wife. He said the policemen also took his cell phone and did not allow them to meet him at police station. Rind also demanded to the Interior Ministry to take stern action against the IGP Sindh and officials involved in his illegal detention.
