University of Agriculture, Faisalabad will replace the traditional ways of maintaining official records to e-governance soon for making the system more transparent. This was stated by UAF Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan while addressing the inaugural session of two-day workshop on 'Web Technology and Project Management', organised by the department of computer science on Tuesday at the videoconference room.
Professor Dr Iqrar said the new system will save money being spent in the form of files and pages. He noted that e-governance is creating success stories in many countries including Pakistan. Many institutions in our country have adopted the system and running it effectively. Keeping this in view, UAF computerised its system of attendance of students, results, and admission to various disciplines and payment to employees a couple of years ago. "Now the university is committed to transferring the attendance system of employs and their movement on e-governance", he said.
On the occasion, the VC condoled demise of wonder child, youngest IT certified of the world, Arfa Karim. He said that her demise is a great loss to the country that could not be fulfilled. He prayed Allah Almighty may rest the departed soul in peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss. He urged IT students to follow the suite by turning in order to proving their mettle in the field.
He praised Punjab chief minister, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz for renaming Lahore Technology Park as Arfa Karim Technology Park as a tribute to her achievements and honour she brought for the country. Expressing his view, dean faculty of science of the varsity, Professor Dr Muhammad Ashraf said world has become global village only because of information technology.
He said that the country has potential to become global market leader in IT as it has experts like late Arfa Karim. He urged the IT students to put their all-out efforts so that the country could earn foreign revenue by excelling in it. He said that teaching community should equip themselves with information technology to utilise it for promoting education in the region. Department Chairman, Tasleem Mustafa said it is the era of IT we ought to have the knowledge of latest technology. He said computer technology is playing vital role in modern education system.
