Students of Kurram Agency have demanded of the government for special concession in their tuition fee and called for immediate steps to regain educational activities in the Agency. Addressing at a news conference, at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Tuesday, President Kurram Students Union (KSU), Mohammad Habib said that poor law and order situation in the Agency had brought educational activities to a complete halt.
He said that the restoration of peace was a must for providing educational activities, therefore, the government should take practical steps to restore peace in the area. Referring to a letter dispatched by the Ministry of Human Rights, he said that the letter had called the authority to give special concession to Kurram students studying at various educational institutions in settled areas. He demanded of the government to implement proposal immediately for providing relief to students of Kurram Agency.
He also urged the political administration for provision of scholarships on equal basis to the students of the Agency. He said that most of the students were deprived of free education in the Kurram Agency. He also called for revival of United States International Assistance for Development (USAID) scholarship programme, saying that the programme was stopped due to unfair activities. He demanded of the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Political Agent and Education Director of Kurram Agency and directorate of FATA for taking concrete immediate steps to reconstruct damaged schools and colleges.
