Rs 20 million embezzlement: arrest orders of 7 irrigation officials issued

Anti-Corruption Special Judge Mohammad Aslam on Saturday issued arrest orders of seven officials of the Irrigation Department who were involved in embezzlement of over Rs 20 million in Manchan Super Band project. According to the details, the accused officials include SDO Munawar-ul-Islam, SDO Zafar Iqbal, SDO Maqsood Aslam, Sub Engineer Abdul Sami, Sub Engineer Amanat Ali, Sub Engineer Rana Ijaz Ahmed and Sub Engineer Wasiq Irshad.
Manchan Super Band was constructed from Ehsan Pur to Bohang and the total cost of this project was Rs 350 million but poor material worth over Rs 20 million was used. The investigation started after the resident of Thol Hamza Hafiz Abdul Ghafoor pointed out the matter and wrote an application to the Anti-Corruption Department against the accused.
