Upgradation of Primary, middle schools: Punjab government spending Rs 13 billion

The Punjab government is spending an amount of Rs 13 billion on the up-gradation of 3068 primary and middle schools in the public sector situated in different districts of the province so that the students could get education near their homes without being financially burdened.
This was stated by the Chairman of Punjab Education Foundation Muhammad Anwar at the annual prize distribution ceremony of a low-cost private school in Khanpur on Lahore-Sheikhupura road on Saturday. According to the spokesperson, Anwar said that special efforts had been initiated by the Punjab government to improve the academic standard of public sector schools in peri-urban and remote hinterlands so that the students could get quality education at their doorsteps. He said that private sector was also being encouraged to shoulder the cause of education through public-private partnership initiated by the Punjab Education Foundation.
He said that Rs 6 billion had been provided for the provision of missing facilities in 3613 government schools and hoped that this would improve the quality education. "We are committed to open the doors of quality education to every child as this is their basic right," he said.
He said that special program has been launched by the PEF to improve the capacity-building of private schools. The function was also addressed by columnist Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi.
