Strategy for possible upcoming elections: Jamaat-i-Islami in contact with political, religious parties

The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) is in contact with all political and religious parties in view of the political crisis in the country and it will soon announce its strategy with regard to possible upcoming elections. This was stated by the Ameer of Jamaat-i-Islami, Munawar Hasan, before party workers here at Mansoora on Saturday. The JI has put all options including seat adjustment on the table.
He recalled that the PPP-led government had done nothing but added to the miseries of the people and plundered national wealth. He said that the rulers beat the drum in connection with democracy but their actions and attitude are undemocratic. "This attitude of the government has put all institutions in confrontation with each other. The government has made all the decisions taken by Supreme Court a mockery, he added.
Munawar deplored that the government through its bad policies had made the country virtually a USA colony putting the country's sovereignty and integrity on stake. The country had become a safe haven for agents of Central Intelligence Authority (CIA) and Black Water, the USA secret agencies, he added. He said that people of Pakistan were annoyed with the rulers' anti-people policies and wanted to get rid of them as soon as possible.
He suggested that the only solution to all the crises lay in holding new general elections. The JI chief demanded that the National Defence Committee should make public the reasons for not executing the decisions taken by it in its previous meetings. He further said that the people wanted to get rid of the US intervention in Pakistan's domestic affairs and permanent blockade of Nato supply line. He expressed hope that the National Defence Committee in accordance with nation's aspirations would not take any decision that might imply the superiority of the USA and India.
