Rs 1 million approved for family of slain professor

The Syndicate of University of Sindh in its emergency meeting has approved one million rupees for the family of slain Professor Dr Channer, Director Students Affairs. The syndicate meeting was held on Thursday at the office of Provincial Election Commission Sindh with Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Nazir A. Mughal in the chair.
The meeting expressed deep sorrow and strongly condemned the assassination of Professor Bashir Ahmed Channer and offered Fateha. Fateha was also offered for Pir Sahib Pagara. The meeting approved the actions initiated by the Vice Chancellor, which included the naming the Department as Shaheed Professor Bashir Ahmed Channer Department of Microbiology, job to son/daughter and full fee waiver to two daughters of Professor Channer.
The meeting also thanked Governor Sindh/Chancellor for taking serious view of the incident and allowed the request made by the Vice Chancellor to hold a judicial enquiry into the assassination of Professor Channer. The Syndicate meeting took serious notice of non-academic attitude of agitating teachers of the university and directed them to resume classes with immediate effect. The Syndicate authorised the Vice Chancellor to take disciplinary action against Dr Azhar Ali Shah and Dr Arfana Mallah for their non-academic attitude.
