Provincial Minister for Planning and Development, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor presided over a meeting in which ongoing development projects in various divisions under special package were reviewed. During the briefing, Secretary Planning and Development informed that 143 schemes had been started under special package, of which, 65 schemes have been completed. He said that further funds are required for 47 schemes.
However, funds were released for 16 schemes, which have been completed whereas development work on 15 schemes is going on speedily which will be completed soon. He said that there are such 16 schemes for which additional funds have not been released. He told that last year Planning and Development Department released Rs 9508 billion, out of which Rs 6287 billion were spent. He said that an additional amount of Rs 2468 billion was allocated and Rs 8785 billion were spent.
Provincial minister for Planning and Development, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor said that work in all divisions particularly mega projects should be carried out in double shifts so that these could be completed on time. Moreover, the funds should immediately be released for early completed of those projects, which are facing shortage of funds.
He directed that the ongoing development projects in the cities should be completed expeditiously so that the citizens should not face more problems. Abdul Ghafoor expressed satisfaction over the pace of work on the ongoing 24 schemes in Lahore division and directed Commissioner Lahore to monitor these schemes personally.
