The recently installed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf said on Wednesday that board would liked to muster the support in streamlining and improving the affairs of cricket. "Media would get access to information of cricket affairs in PCB," he told a group of senior reporters on Wednesday.
"We are ready to work hand in hand for bringing international cricket back to Pakistan and lift the image of the country," he said. "Media is playing an important role in boosting the game. But I would like to see the media working and supporting the cause of cricket in Pakistan," he added.
"I have no personal agenda and my sole objective is to work for the improvement and betterment of cricket in Pakistan and with solid support from the media," Zaka Ashraf, who took over as PCB Chairman from Ijaz Butt in October last, said. "The resumption of international cricket in Pakistan is my top most priority," he said. He said like anybody else, he was looking forward to Bangladeshi team's tour to Pakistan in April.
Zaka Ashraf said the arrival of Bangladesh security delegation was delayed due to death of their chief executive Manzur Ahmed. "We are eagerly looking forward to break ice to see international cricket back to Pakistan," stressed. He said besides Bangladesh trip during which they would be playing a couple of one-day internationals against Pakistan, they are also considering other option of inviting some foreign cricketers to play in Pakistan T20 event.
He expressed the hope that suspension matter related to Secretary Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) Professor Ejaz Farooqi will be sorted out. KCCA Secretary was suspended by ex-PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt and appointed one-man committee of Shafiq Ahmed for raising his voice for injustice with Karachi players in the selection of Pakistan team.
