Awareness against dengue: 'elected representatives played commendable role'
Provincial Minister for Labour Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi has said that elected representatives played a commendable role in promoting public awareness against dengue. He said that every effort would be made by the government to prevent dengue virus taking serious proportions during spring season, however, all segments of society should create awareness in the people especially labour classes regarding preventive measures against dengue and the ill effects of narcotics.
He said that government would provide all out guidance and assistance to non-governmental welfare organisations for this purpose. He said that seven thousand brick kiln children have been registered for education in Lahore and Kasur districts, while interest-free loans of 75 million rupees have been given to brick kiln workers. He was addressing a seminar arranged with the co-operation of Labour Department and Bonded Labour Liberation Front. Secretary Labour Hassan Iqbal, officers of Labour Department and representatives of NGOs also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, speaking at a special sitting with regard to annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) at Aiwan-e-Karkunan-e-Pakistan, Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi said that Pakistan was achieved due to the blessings of sufi saints and through their teachings and guidance, socio-political and economic problems being faced today can also be overcome.
