A gang of robber on Wednesday looted $24,000 from a cash van of a private moneychanger company in the limits of Sharah-e-Faisal police station. Police said the incident took place in Block 17; Gulistan-e-Jauhar where at least four armed men intercepted a cash van of a private moneychanger and took away US $24,000 with them along with the rifles of the security guards.
SHO Zawaar Hussain Shah said the security guards in their statement had said they opened fire on the bandits but missed targets, as their weapons were not working properly. He said that both security guards had been taken into the custody for interrogation.
Meanwhile, the investigators did not rule out the possibility of involvement of any militant group in this robbery, saying that although it was premature to say who was involved. "There are possibility of involvement of any terrorist group in the robbery," they added. No case was registered till filing of this report.
