Robbery bid foiled by guard

A security guard on Wednesday foiled a robbery bid at jeweller shop in the remits of Saddar police station. According to Abdul Ghaffar, an owner of Chaman Jewellers, at least four bandits, who barged into the said shop located in Abdullah Haroon Road and held the staff hostage by putting a dummy suicide jacket in the shop, ran away when one of the gunmen managed to get his riffle back and opened gunshots on them.
On being informed, the officials of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) rushed to the spot and later declared the suicide jacket as dummy after thorough examination. No case has so far been registered however, police declined to confirm the said incident as the owner is reluctant to lodge an FIR in this regard.
