SUNDAY JANUARY 08:Supreme Court to be moved against gas loadshedding: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab government will move the Supreme Court in connection with gas load shedding in Punjab. He was talking to newsmen at Allama Iqbal International Airport on Saturday upon his return from a four-day visit to Turkey.
Regarding meeting of President Zardari with Nawaz Sharif on various matters including elections, he said he hardly believed if talks could be held with President Zardari on any matter. About the offer of $1 billion loan from Turkey, he expressed the opinion that loans could be obtained for public welfare projects. He said everlasting friendship exists between Pakistan and Turkey, and friendly relations between these two countries would further be strengthened by virtue of his visit to Turkey.
He said he had meetings with Turkish President Abdulah Gul, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, Istanbul Mayor, members of parliament and other dignitaries, which helped further the mutual public welfare projects between Turkey and Punjab. "During the visit, useful dialogues were held with the Turkish officials regarding enhancing co-operation in various sectors. Agreements were also signed for co-operation in technical education, transport and energy sectors," he added.
According to him, his visit to Turkey will yield positive results and would help in further strengthening mutual contacts. Talks were also held with Istanbul Municipality regarding agreement on solid waste management co-operation, and machinery from Turkey would reach Lahore within a day or so. The Mayor of Istanbul, Kadir Topbas, would participate in the inaugural ceremony of that project in February next. After Lahore, the scope of such projects would be extended to Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan and other cities and those cities would also be made neat and clean like the cities of Turkey, he said. He said an MoU was signed with Bank Exim of Turkey and the projects of bus rapid transit system would be completed in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Multan.
