Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (F) Chief Moulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said that President Asif Ali Zardari could be persuaded to resign from his office. Talking to media after addressing a meeting of JUI Lahore's general council, he said the judiciary had ample powers of getting its orders implemented. However, he advised politicians to resolve their issues by themselves instead of looking towards the judiciary or army.
He said that he was in favour of implementation of courts' orders in the letter and spirit. The JUI-F chief said that there was nothing wrong in holding early elections.
He opined that the situation in the country was worsening. He said PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif had already been asked for support for early elections. He further said that dialogue could also be held on constitution of an independent election commission and formation of a caretaker government.
