Diplomatic ties with Israel: JI chief criticises Musharraf's statement

Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawwar Hasan, has strongly condemned Pervez Musharraf's statement that recognition of Israel and establishing diplomatic ties with it was in the interest of Pakistan, and said a patriotic Pakistani ruler could not even conceive of that.
Reacting to the former general's interview to an Israeli paper, Syed Munawar Hasan said that Israel was an illegitimate state that had been created in the midst of the Arab world with the US blessing and support by unlawfully occupying Palestine. The Palestinians had been forcibly ejected from this land to settle Jews brought from different parts of the world.
The JI chief wondered who had given a US agent like Musharraf, who had placed this country under US slavery, to propose Israel's recognition by Islamabad, adding that Musharraf's statement was only to please Washington and it had shocked the Palestinians.
Syed Munawar Hasan said during the last 61 years, the Zionists had forcibly occupied the Baitul Maqdis in Jerusalem and the Palestinians had been bearing the Zionists oppression. Thousands of the Palestinians had been martyred and their lands and houses had been grabbed, The Gaza Strip was under a cruel siege for the last five years and even food and medicine were not allowed.
He said that the former Egyptian rulers of Musharraf type had been helping Israel in its tyranny. He said the Palestinian Muslims had been tolerating all this tyranny and desired to liberate Palestine.
The JI Ameer questioned Musharraf's logic that like Pakistan, Israel was also an ideological state, it was now a fact and we must be accepted. " He said, there was no comparison between Pakistan and Israel because Pakistan had been established on a principle after sacrificing lakhs of people and through a prolonged struggle. On the other hand, the Jews set up the unlawful state of Israel with US help by ousting the local Palestinians.
He said the Pakistani people highly valued Palestinians' struggle for freedom and also supported them, and added that it was the Muslim world's duty to get Palestine liberated.
