LHC judge imposes fine on SHO

Justice Ijaz Ahmed of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday imposed a fine of Rs 35,000 on SHO Police Station Iqbal Town Lahore for not abiding by the court orders for registration of a FIR. The court directed the SHO, Qamar Abbas, to pay the fine to the petitioner, Luqman Sardar, who bore expenses of petitions and had been wandering for registration of the FIR.
Sardar had filed the petition submitting that an additional District and Sessions judge had directed the respondent SHO to register FIR on his complaint. He said the SHO despite his repeated requests and court orders did not register the FIR. The petitioner submitted before the court that the SHO was neither paying any heed towards his applications nor was bothering the court orders and was favouring the accused. At this the judge not only imposed the fine on the SHO but also issued directions to the Lahore Capital City Police Officer to initiate departmental inquiry against him and submit his report to the court within one week.
