Pakistan is participating in the Thailand BoI Fair, with presentations focusing on the country's investment opportunities in sectors including infrastructure, energy, textiles, food processing, gems and jewellery. The Fair was inaugurated by Princess MahaChakri Sirindhorn at Impact, Muang Thong Thani Exhibition and Convention Centre in Bangkok, on Thursday.
Thailand's Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, Pakistan's Ambassador to Thailand Sohail Mahmood accompanied by Commercial Counsellor Syed Zafar Ali Shah, cabinet ministers, business leaders and diplomats were present. The Fair, being held from January 5-20, is being organised by the Board of Investment (BoI) of Thailand. Originally planned to be held in November 2011, the BoI Fair was been rescheduled due to massive floods in Thailand.
Pakistan Embassy and the Thai-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce have established booths at the Fair. A Pakistani delegation spearheaded by the BoI is scheduled to participate in the Fair early next week. A special seminar on 'Investment Opportunities in Pakistan' will be held on January 10. A large number of Thai and foreign companies are participating in the Fair as total 39 outdoor pavilions and 800 indoor booths have been set up. A Special Royal Pavilion has been set up to pay tribute to King Bhumibol Adulyadej's life long contributions to improving the lives of the Thai people. The theme is a balance between industrial progress and environmental conservation.
