Several parts of the metropolis on Friday fell into the strong grip of tension where social and commercial activity remained suspended since the killing of political workers in separate incidents on Thursday. According to police and eye-witnesses, the body of Awami National Party district west president was sent to his hometown Swat while the funeral prayers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement activists Maqsood and Habib were offered in sector 11-A block-L, Orangi Town.
Expressing his views, SP Asif Ijaz said that police are striving to get the clue to identify the culprits. SP Site, Shah Jahan said the assailants intentionally used the name of Taliban before committing this heinous crime just to divert investigation into other direction. He said the statements of eye witnesses revealed that the culprits at Iqbal Market incident committed the crime with no fear of apprehension and escaped after confirming the deaths of their targets. However, the investigators were of the view the killings of political workers were not linked with each other.
Needless to mention, unknown gunmen after chanting slogan in favour of Taliban targeted ANP district west president and wounded three others while one of the attackers was also killed during exchange of fire. Thereafter, two senior workers of MQM, Maqsood alias Kala Guddo and Habib Khan Turab were targeted in Orangi Town.
