The 12th Political Agents Conference with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar in the chair reviewed the law and order situation, anti-polio campaign in FATA, implementation on FATA reforms and the causes of unscheduled and prolonged power outages.
The conference was organised at Governor's House. At the moot, the political agents presented reports on current law and order situation in their respective agencies and highlighted the steps taken to overcome the problems and issues in this regard.
The conference was informed that FATA reforms particularly those relating to FCR were being fully implemented. The Additional Chief Secretary FATA presented an overview of implementation on the decisions taken during the previous conference whereas the Chief Executive TESCO briefed the conference on the technical causes of continuous power break down in FATA and suggested certain measures to ensure availability of electricity to the end consumers.
Governor Kausar said that now when the law and order situation in tribal areas was improving, the political administration should focus on the development initiatives and FATA reforms. "Law and order in FATA was the core issue and the political officers should play their proactive role to ensure more improvement," the Governor said directing that all the relevant authorities and agencies should co-ordinate their efforts to move forward collectively.
The Governor said that peace and development were the two major priorities. However, he added that sports and cultural activities should equally be promoted to involve the FATA youth in healthy and positive activities. "The Political administration should move forward taking the tribal communities along", he stressed.
He said that the investment environment must be improved and the potential investors should be provided every facility including security. The Governor also directed the political officers to take effective measure to control the kidnapping incidents. "This must be given serious consideration so as the people feel some kind of improvement," he added.
The Governor appreciated the support and co-operation of local tribal community against militancy and urged the political administration to further strengthen their ties with the tribesmen. He directed that the grievances and complaints of tribesmen of Bara should be addressed properly and added that the process of return of IDPs to their homes should be accelerated and facilitated.
