LUMHS budget for 2011-2012 presented

The 8th meeting of the Senate of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences was held on Thursday, 5th January 2012, chaired by the Vice- Chancellor Professor Noshad A. Shaikh. The budget for the financial year 2010-2011 was approved and the budget for the year 2011-2012 was presented.
A committee was constituted to present the feasibility report to establish a Medical and Dental College in District Badin/Thatta within three months. It was decided to establish the branches of LUMHS Diagnostic and Research Laboratory in District Mirpurkhas and Badin with Collection points at Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohd Khan, Maatli and Talhaar which will serve the people of rural areas on No-Profit Basis.
A Modern "Skill Lab" will be established in LUMHS for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, which will serve to raise the way of teaching to the International standard. It was informed that the LUMHS will be "ISO Certified" by the end of the next month.
It was mentioned that LUMHS has the honour to initiate the course of "Doctor in Physiotherapy" from this year, which will help in overcoming the shortage of qualified Physiotherapists in the country. The LUMHS has started the Course of "BS Bio Medical Engineering" in the current year. A state-of-the-art school will be established at LUMHS in collaboration with "Pak-Turk International Education Foundation" which will serve the people of the area in general and employees of LUMHS in particular.
