Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally invited Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for sending its team to Pakistan for a cricket series in Pakistan. PCB Chairman Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf has sent an email to Bangladesh Cricket Board President Mustafa Kamal asking him to send its security team for reviewing situation ahead of the tour, sources in PCB said.
According to them, security team of BCB is expected to come during the current month while Interior Minister Rehman Malik has invited PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf for discussion in Islamabad regarding expected tour of Bangladesh cricket team to Pakistan in April this year.
It may be noted that Interior Minister Rehman Malik has announced that Bangladesh cricket team will be given foolproof security cover during THE upcoming visit. After assuming charge as PCB Chairman, Zaka Ashraf has expressed his firm resolve for restoration of international cricket in Pakistan. PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf made efforts and also visited India where he met BCCI president N. Srinivasan.
When the BCCI informed the PCB that they needed a guideline from their government before finalising a series with Pakistan, Ashraf made a contact with the foreign office for advice on this matter. After the new development, PCB preferred to look for other alternatives and invited Bangladesh to come to Pakistan; and if they visit Pakistan in April, our next plan will be to invite Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf said. Critics of the game believe that if Bangladesh cricket team visits Pakistan it would be considered a big achievement of PCB, as it would revive international cricket in Pakistan.
