Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations across Southern Punjab observed complete strike on Sunday against increase in the gas tariff. The Rickshaw/wagon drivers staged a protest demonstration against the hike in tariff and ban on use of CNG in commercial vehicles.
Agitation on the first day of new year was witnessed and protests were triggered due to severe gas crisis in the country's biggest province.
When the CNG stations owners gathered at the GTS Chowk, rickshaw, taxi and wagon drivers joined them. Traffic around Vehari Chowk was blocked.
The strike was observed on the call of the All Pakistan CNG Association. Some transporters parked their vehicles outside the CNG stations to protest non-provision of gas. People faced massive problems due to the closure of CNG stations and transporters' strike, as they were unable to reach their destinations.
