Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain distributed Benazir Employees Stock Option Scheme (BESOS) certificates among 123 employees at Pakistan Petroleum Limited's Adhi Field (AF), here on Thursday.
Former federal minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, KPK Assembly Speaker, Chairman PPL Board Hidayatullah Pirzada, Director General Petroleum Concessions Sher Mohammad Khan, who is also a PPL director, and Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Asim Murtaza Khan were present on the occasion.
In his welcome address, Khan highlighted PPL's efforts to accelerate exploration activities to maximise production and reserves replacement. The occasion had special significance as Dr Asim Hussain had not only visited the field but also distributed BESOS share certificates among AF employees, making them co-owners of the company, he further said.
Raja Pervez Ashraf welcomed the minister to the area and requested him to expedite welfare and development projects for local communities. This was followed by the distribution of BESOS shares among field staff. Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain said that AF's Liquid Petroleum Gas/Natural Gas Liquid/Gas Plant II was one of the best facilities of its kind, comparable to any across the globe.
Given the acute energy deficit faced by the country, he exhorted company management and staff to accelerate its core business programme to optimise production and reserves replacement. BESOS had transferred company ownership to workers and now they were expected to demonstrate equal dedication for the progress of the company's business programme.
Around 70 kilometers south of Islamabad, AF is a joint venture with PPL as operator and Oil and Gas Development Company Limited and Pakistan Oilfields Limited as joint venture partners. Daily average production from AF is around 39 MMscfd gas, 1800 barrels per day NGL, 3800 bbl oil and 125 tonnes LPG. Currently, nine wells are on production at AF from Tobra-Khewra Reservoir and two from the Sakesar Formation. Earlier, the minister visited the plant, where a brief presentation was given on its key features. He was accompanied by PPL's management, directors and key field staff.
