Tributes paid to martyrs

Punjab Minister for Zakat & Ushr, Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that those who sacrificed their lives in defending the boundaries of the country and protecting the citizens are martyrs and they are not only the national heroes but also the ones whom their families feel proud of.
Addressing the 'Rangeela Memorial' and 'Jan Nisar' award-giving ceremony organised by Rangeela Welfare Foundation at Alhamra Art Council, here on Thursday, President & MPA Farah Deeba said the government and people from all walks of life should come forward and do their level best for the welfare of the families of martyrs since it is their national and religious responsibility as well.
Parliamentary Secretary Tourism, Rana Muhammad Arshad, SSP Operations Sarfraz Falki, notables and renowned artists of films, TV and Radio were also present on this occasion. The minister said that respectable nations always remembered the sacrifices of their martyrs and today the nation would have to make a pledge that the sacrifices would not go waste.
Lauding the artistic qualities of film star late Rangeela, he said that he was a legend and one of pioneers of the comedy in the country and his services could never be ignored. He announced Rs 100,000 for Rangeela Welfare Foundation on behalf of the Chief Minister Punjab.
Later, the minister distributed 'Jan Nisar' awards and gifts among the families of martyrs of Pakistan Army and Police. He also gave away awards to the disabled persons of the police and Army. Further, he gave away Rangeela Memorial Awards and gifts to the artists and journalists.
