Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) on Wednesday disconnected gas supply to 15 industrial units and 14 CNG stations on theft charges and imposed over Rs 400 million fine. The SNGPL sources told Business Recorder that gas supply to influential groups was disconnected in line with the gas theft act, recently introduced by the parliament.
It may be noted that the SNGPL launched anti-theft drive back in July and it has taken action against 29 industrial consumers till date. According to sources, the SNGPL has disconnected gas supply to Sharif Chalk Powder in Faisalabad region, Malik JP and Sons steel industry in Lahore, Raza CNG station Islamabad, Sheraz Filling Station in Sahiwal, Hamza Paper Board in Faisalabad, Value CNG in Lahore, Al-Rehman CNG in Sheikhupura, Mian Petroleum in Sheikhupura, Pak-Asia CNG in Lahore, Maqbool Moulding Works in Faisalabad, Al-Hamd CNG station in Sahiwal, Pakistan CNG station Lahore, Al-Jahangir CNG in Gujrat, Tanveer Spinning Mills Sheikhupura, Motor Way CNG in Faisalabad, Shah Din Cone Dying Unit in Faisalabad, Boota Textile in Faisalabad, Nawaz Foundry Lahore, Malik Enterprises CNG in Lahore, Malik JP and sons steel industry in Lahore, Al-Moin Foundry Lahore, GAS Top CNG in Sheikhupura, Hafiz Muhammad Arif Pig Iron industry in Gujrat, Boota textile mills Faisalabad, Sharif Chalk Powder in Faisalabad, Yarmok Paper Industry in Lahore, Shalimar Steel Mills R R Mills in Lahore, Al-Rahim Metal Works in Gujrat, Bhanero Textile Mills in Sheikupura and Sarfaraz Ahmed steel industry in Lahore. According to the SNGPL officials this drive will continue in future. The drive was started on the directions of Managing Director SNGPL Arif Hameed, who adopted a zero tolerance policy on gas theft.
