Sindh Rangers on Friday claimed to have detained over 100 suspects in separate raids in the city and recovered huge cache of weapons, drugs and snatched vehicles. Sources said that the Sindh Rangers conducted targeted operations in different areas including Jamsheed Quarter, Rizvia Society, Orangi Town, Patel Para, Nazimabad, SITE and arrested some 106 suspects and recovered drugs, snatched cars and bikes and weapons from their possessions.
The suspects, who were blindfolded and gathered on a ground, were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation. Meanwhile, Brigadier Waseem Ayub at a press conference held at Rangers Headquarter stated that the Rangers had finalised its security plan for Moharram.
He said that around 8,000 rangers' personnel would be deployed in the city to avert any untoward incident during Moharram. Ayub said that several security pickets had already been established across the metropolis and all law enforcement agencies were on high alert.
He further said that the Rangers would also be deployed on the rooftops of high-rise buildings near the route of the main mourning procession. He claimed that the Rangers had so far remained successful to maintain peace in the city. Ayub said the performance of Rangers was also lauded by Chief Justice of Pakistan and added that they would continue indiscriminate action against the wrongdoers.
