Workshop on ELISA technique held at NARC

The project on 'Progressive Control of Foot & Mouth Disease in Pakistan' arranged a two week training workshop on ELISA technique at National Veterinary Library (NVL), National Agriculture research Council (NARC). ELISA training is being imparted to the federal & provincial Pakistani researchers and veterinarians to improve their knowledge on diagnosis of Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) in cattle's and buffaloes.
In his inaugural address, Todd Drennan, Agriculture Chancellor of the US Embassy in Pakistan, Islamabad assured maximum support of US Government for improving capacity of livestock sector of Pakistan in terms of diagnosis and control of animal disease including Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).
Dr Muhammad Afzal, National Project Coordinator said that this is one of the series of training workshop offered to the provincial government under the progressive control of FMD project in Pakistan, assuring that after the training the equipment and diagnostic kits will be provided to the trainees along with backstopping at their places as and when needed.
Dr R. H. Usmani, Animal Husbandry Commissioner and Chief Veterinary Officer of Pakistan, while emphasising on the follow up of the training, informed the participant that the government in collaboration with USDA will also be soon launching a BIO-Security and Bio- Safety improvement programme at the veterinary research & diagnostic laboratories throughout the country. Dr Manzoor Hussain, National Project Director assured them maximum support of FMD project throughout the training workshop.-PR
