Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan said on Friday that his party would check the assets of its members prior to allocating tickets for election. He said that his party would not make alliance with corrupt rulers, but patriotic leadership would be welcomed.
Speaking at a news conference here, Imran said the growing popularity of PTI had compelled PML-N to launch 'Go Zardari Go' campaign. The PTI chief said that his party wanted an independent foreign policy to run the country's affairs smoothly. He said that PTI always opposed the war against terrorism. "When I put forward a proposal for talks with Taliban three years back, the opponents accused me of supporting Taliban, now they are talking about negotiations with militant groups," he added.
"I never concealed anything from the nation," Imran said adding that he held a meeting with the US Ambassador some six months ago, but ISI Chief General Shuja Pasha was not present in the meeting. Imran dispelled the impression that his party was being supported by "secret hands and powers", saying that he and his party believed only in the support of Almighty Allah, who gave him strength and courage to serve the nation.
"I never bowed before any internal and external powers in the past and I am committed to do the same in future," he maintained. Imran said that "we are not against the Americans, but opposing the US policies." He accused the PML-N of using his 'Go Zardari Go' rallies to target PTI.
On the occasion, Saleem Jan Khan, niece of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan and nephew of Abdul Wali Khan and Abdul Ghani announced to join PTI. Addressing the gathering, he said that he was too old, but going to join PTI because of the prevailing situation of the country. He said that he respected his forefathers but was against their policies. He also presented a list of his assets to the PTI chief. Arbab Nisar and Suleman, the cousins of former federal minister Arbab Zahir also announced to join PTI.
