Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 100,516 tonnes of cargo comprising 50,767 tonnes of import cargo and 49,749 tonnes of export cargo including 3,896 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 50,767 tonnes comprised of 10,611 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,876 tonne of general cargo; 14,045 tonnes of bulk cargo: 941 tonnes of wheat; 9,450 tonnes of coal; 3,655 tonnes of rock phosphate and 12,234 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 49,749 tonnes comprised of 29,203 tonnes of containerised cargo; 262 tonnes of general cargo; 6,284 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 14,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Five ships namely OOCL Busan, STX Patriakos, Cap Mass, Hyundai Freedom and Ponete carrying four container ships and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Three vessels viz APL Cyprine, Queen Arrow-1 and Ponete carrying one container ship, one bulk cargo ship and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. Five ships namely APL Cyprine, Sioux Maiden, Marilena, Queen Arrow-1 and Lodestar Genesis with one container ship, one coal carrier, one LSD tanker, one bulk cargo ship and one chemical carrier expected to sail on Wednesday, while two ships namely Fade-1 and Formosaproduct Alpine with one wheat carrier and one naphtha ship respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.
Three ships namely Santa Balbina, Cap Gabriel and New Horizon with two container ships and one general cargo ship respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while four vessels viz Permis, YM Fuzhou, Maistros and Alliance Charleston carrying two container ships, one HSD tanker and one vehicles carrier respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 53,143 tonnes, comprising 24,018 tonnes of import cargo and 29,125 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 2,387 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 24,018 tonnes includes 6,000 tonnes of palm oil; 2,645 tonnes of canola seeds; 2,761 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 405 tonnes of chemicals and 12,207 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 29,125 tonnes includes 5,982 tonnes of rice and 23,143 tonnes of containerised cargo.
A container ship namely CV Sealand Washington sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while four more ships namely CV Alexander, MV Safina-2, MT Angel No-II and CV Ikaruga are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven vessels CV Sealand Washington, CV Alexander, MV Safina-2, MV Fonthida Naree, MV Ikan Tambak, MV Iron Kalypso and MT Angel No-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, canola seeds, sunflower seeds, palm oil and chemicals respectively during last 24 hours.
Five ships namely Ikaruga, CMA CGM Veradi, Al-Soor-II, Fair Spirit and Chembulk Singapore with containers, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four vessels viz CV Ikaruga, CV CMA CGM Veradi, MT Chembulk Singapore and MT Al-Soor-II scheduled to load/offload carrying containers, palm oil and diesel oil respectively are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
Four ships namely CV Nicolai Maersk, CV Pisti, CV New Delhi Express and MV Zeynepk carrying containers and canola seeds are due to arrive on Thursday. As many as five vessels viz CV MSC Jade, CV MSC Anafi, MT Wolong Song, MV Stolt Zulu and MT Sunrise Hamanasu carrying containers, project cargo, palm oil and chemicals are also due to arrive at Port Qasim.
