Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 108,484 tonnes of cargo comprising 79,727 tonnes of import cargo and 28,757 tonnes of export cargo including 6,983 loaded & empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 79,727 tonnes comprised of 59,019 tonnes of containerised cargo; 20 tonne of general cargo; 14,088 tonnes of bulk cargo: 1,308 tonnes of wheat; 9,130 tonnes of coal; 3,650 tonnes of rock phosphate and 6,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,757 tonnes comprised of 27,186 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,371 tonnes of general cargo and 200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Four ships namely Al-Ihsaa, Lindavia, Yaran and DL Clover carrying three container ships and one oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. Six vessels viz OOCL Busan, Yaran, STX Patriakos, Cap Mass, Hyundai Freedom and Lodestar Genesis carrying five container ships and one oil tanker respectively are currently at the berths. Four ships namely STX Patriakos, Cap Mass, Hyundai Freedom and OOCL Busan with four container ships expected to sail on Tuesday, while three ships namely Lodestar Genesis, Ponete and Sioux Maiden with one oil tanker, one general cargo ship and one coal carrier respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
Five ships namely APL Cyprine, MT Lahore, Queen Arrow-1, Argent Iris and RZK Hamburg with one container ship, one crude oil tanker, one cement carrier, one palm oil tanker and one wheat carrier respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while six vessels viz Santa Balmina, Parmis, Cap Gabriel, KY Venus, Bow Cardinal and New Horizon carrying three container ships, two ethanol carriers and one general cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIMA cargo volume of 15,973 tonnes, comprising 12,435 tonnes of dry cargo and 3,538 tonnes of liquid cargo was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 15,973 tonnes includes 8,200 tonnes of palm oil and 7,773 tonnes of canola seeds.
A chemical carrier MT Norgas Sonoma is expected to sail on Tuesday afternoon. A total number of six vessels MV Safina-2, MV Fonthida Naree, MV Ikan Tambak, MV Iron Kalypso, MT Angel No-II and MT Norgas Sonoma are currently occupying berths to load/offload rice, canola seeds, sunflower seeds, palm oil and chemicals respectively during last 24 hours.
A palm oil tanker namely Chembulk Singapore is currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two container vessels viz CV Sealand Washington and CV Alexander are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Tuesday.
Two ships namely CV Najran and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers and diesel oil are due to arrive on Tuesday, while three more ships namely CV CMA CGM Veradi, CV Nicolai Maersk and MT Fair Spirit with containers and furnace oil are due to arrive on Wednesday. As many as two vessels viz CV New Delhi Express and MT Sunrise Hamanasu carrying containers and chemicals are also due to arrive at Port Qasim.
