Pakistan's ambassador to Washington, Hussain Haqqani, arrived in Islamabad on Sunday morning to explain his position over the correspondence of alleged secret 'memo' seeking US help against Pakistan military.
Reports said Haqqani was given full protocol and security when he arrived at the airport and was driven with full security and protocol from the back gate of the airport to President House where he met face to face with the President.
During the meeting, the ambassador offered the President his initial version. The ambassador would stay at President House, for security reasons. He would also meet the top brass of military including ISI chief General Ahmad Shuja Pasha and Prime Minister Yousuf Razz Gilani to clarify his position regarding the scandal.
Haqqani has offered to resign over the situation, but has denied the reports of his involvement. He has been called by the leadership to Islamabad to explain himself. Prior to his departure from Washington, Haqqani met US special representative to Pakistan and Afghanistan Marc Grossman.
