Message from Head of ACCA Pakistan

Published Updated

On behalf of ACCA, the global body for professional accountants, I am delighted to welcome you to this vitally important high level forum. This unique and exciting event intends to surface the challenges facing business and in particular the accountancy profession.
As a participant of Global Forum Pakistan 2011 you will deliberate upon critical drivers of the finance profession: talent management, corporate transparency, business accountability and audit and assurance. Making businesses accountable has always been a challenge especially in the Pakistani scenario. ACCA recognises that finance directors are under increasing challenge to deliver maximum return on investment in capability, and there is a universal desire to boost the strategic and commercial impact of the function; to move from being a reactive provider of management information to a proactive value adding function that shapes the strategic agenda.
Talent management is broader than the individual: ensuring the function is structured to maximise the talent pipeline and that roles are designed to give challenge and enrichment to the individual and value to the organisation, is key to an integrated talent management strategy.
E-learning and e-development are transforming the way professionals are being educated and trained. Professional education and the workplace learning and development spaces are being revolutionised through technology. This has lead businesses to look at emerging work, with the potential to create even richer and more sophisticated learning experiences.
ACCA believes that, against this backdrop, it is vital for the accountancy profession and business leaders to deliberate that if the trend for global corporate consolidation continues, in a few decades a handful of global companies could control world commerce and have effective monopoly in their chosen sectors. I hope you have a great time being a part of this forum!
